C-Saúde expands support to 65 health facilities across 19 districts in Nampula

C-Saúde now provides technical support to 65 health facilities across 19 districts in Nampula Province, as part of its cooperation with the Ministry of Health (MISAU) to contribute to efforts to control the HIV and Tuberculosis epidemics. These districts are Angoche, Eráti, Ilha de Moçambique, Lalaua, Malema, Meconta, Mecubúri, Mogovolas, Moma, Monapo, Mossuril, Muecate, Murrupula, Nacala-a-Velha, Nacala-Porto, Nacarôa, Nampula, Rapale, and Ribáuè.

The experience developed by C-Saúde in Zambézia is helping inform the implementation of this work in Nampula. In Zambézia, 94% of people living with HIV know their HIV status, compared with 84% in Nampula1. This difference, together with C-Saúde’s experience in transitioning activities to the Government of Mozambique, contributed to the interest in bringing to Nampula the experience developed in Zambézia through C-Saúde’s joint work with MISAU.

In Nampula, the starting point will be 65 health facilities, many of which have a larger size and higher service volumes. C-Saúde will support health teams and services in implementing HIV and Tuberculosis prevention and treatment interventions. For Themos Ntasis, C-Saúde’s Director General, this new phase also represents an opportunity: “There is a significant opportunity to make meaningful progress toward controlling the HIV and Tuberculosis epidemics in Nampula while also strengthening the health system by integrating support across different services.
